Dear parents and Sixth-Grade students,
We have been charging along at a furioius pace since September, not even stopping during winter break. The sixth grade students are, for the most part, doing well. As such, I have not assigned any spring vacation homework for sixth grade.
If you feel that review would be a good thing, or if you'd like to preview what's coming up, please feel free! Our next unit re-introduces the concepts of geometry that began in 5th grade. Angles, shapes, area of flat and 3-D shapes, angles, and capacity all come up now, at the end of the year. A look through Chapter 9, 10, and 11 will give you an idea of the sort of things we will be doing.
Have a lovely and restful vacation. Come back recharged!!

There is no written homework actually DUE today.
Students are preparing for the Chapter 1 test on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
To do this, they are encouraged to either (1) work through the vocabulary and Chapter Review on pages 56-60 in the textbook (odd number answers in the back of the book) OR take the Chapter 1 test on www.classzone.com then review the lessons for the items they missed.
I have also provided the Study Guide power point that the 5th period class was able to view and that the 1st period class will view on Monday.
I will collect their composition books with their tests on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
