Theme_Supporting Evidence - This assignment is very similar to what we did in class today. The graphic organizer asks for a little more detail.
1. In the box at the top, write what you think the them of the text "Thank You, Ma'am" is. (Remember that the theme is a complete statement, not one word...that's the topic.)
2. Find quotes from the text that support what you said the theme is. (When you do this, think "Say, Mean, Matter") Where it says "Context for Quote" - write about what is happening in the story at the time of the quote. When you interpret the quote, you are telling what you think it means.
3. The "Commentary" box is for you to tell how the quote supports what you said the theme is.
